Rajesh Tiwari (born on 15th August 1970) is an eminent Theatre Director and Playwright currently based out of Delhi with more than 25 years of experience in the field of Theatre in New Delhi and Mumbai.
Overview
With a career spanning over three decades, he has directed more than 50 plays in the dynamic cities of Delhi and Mumbai since 1992. Notably, he served as the Secretary of the Delhi state IPTA and was an NSD Repertory Company an ex member from 1994 to 1995. He held the role of Scholastic Head at Delhi’s Shri Ram Centre for Performing Arts and later assumed the position of Artistic Director at Inner Katha Interventions Mumbai, a corporate training venture focused on theater-based experiential learning. His influence extended to the Natkhat Art Group and the Indian People’s Theatre Association, where he was an engaged Play Director and group secretary. Additionally, Rajesh Tiwari demonstrated commitment as TRUST -Theatre Research Unit’s trustee for Stage Tools. With a multifaceted contribution to theater, he has left an enduring impact on the performing arts landscape
Background and Early Years
Rajesh Tiwari’s educational journey reflects a commitment to academic excellence and a diverse range of studies. He pursued a Master’s degree in Hindi from Banaras Hindu University (B.H.U.), delving into the rich literary and linguistic traditions of his native language. Building upon this foundation, he obtained a bachelor’s degree in English Honours from Delhi University, fostering a deep understanding of English literature and language. His educational trajectory extends to his formative years in Delhi, where he completed his Senior Secondary and Higher School education, shaping the solid groundwork upon which he would later build his remarkable career.
In his early years, Rajesh Tiwari founded the Natkhat Art Group, a dynamic platform for transformative theater. With thought-provoking plays and a commitment to nurturing talent, the group has left a lasting impact on the arts, showcasing Tiwari’s visionary spirit. He has also been an esteemed artistic member of Natya Kiran Manch in Mumbai, contributing his creative insights and talents to enrich the vibrant cultural landscape of the city.
